Passenger and special / rare trains as seen at Northwood station 1990s - 2019.
Northwood station is served by London Underground Metropolitan line trains. It is on a jointly operated route (with Chiltern Railways) with some stations being served by both railway operators.
The trains seen when in passenger service are: London Transport A Stock British Railways Class 115 Chiltern Railways Classes 165 and 168 London Underground S Stock (S8 variant)
Also seen (but not carrying passengers) are: Chiltern Railways Class 117 Water Jetter (the Green Goddess) London Transport / Underground C stock Network Rail RailHead Treatment Train (RHTT) 2013 'Steam On The Met' train (carrying passengers who had bought special tickets for this journey)
According to comments one of 1990s DMU trains includes a Class 101 carriage - I recall reading that in the last years of these DMU's BR would use whatever was compatible to keep the service going strong.

When did C stock operate as 4-cars outside of depots? It was designed to do so on H&C Sunday services, but never did. It was also intended to make 8-car trains when all Circle platforms were lengthened. Still waiting! After OPO conversion it was probably limited to 6-car trains in passenger service.

When did C stock operate as 4-cars outside of depots? The 'Yellow Pages' train ran on the Chesham Shuttle for Steam on the Met 1998 in 4-car formation.

When did C stock operate as 4-cars outside of depots? Used a 4-car in about 1982 for testing to improve the friction/rheostatic brake blend. Non-passenger, but was at South Ealing Test Track which was one of the Fast tracks in those days.

Thanks for the reminder! I had quite forgotten. The video of 4-car C stock trip captures a rare operation. I think all the others went for scrap to Northwood in 6-car trains. Probably the old thread is the place to post on this topic.
