Is there a reason that Google Maps is showing Chiltern services on its map today or is it a mistake? Usually, when viewing Google Maps's "Public Transport" mode, the map shows the 11 Tube lines, Overground, DLR, and Trams, each in their own colour, but does not show rail services. But today, it shows a portion of the Chiltern route in light blue (similar to the Victoria line's colour), but only from West Ruislip to Wembley Stadium. When you click on it, it tells you that it's "West Ruislip - Wembley Stadium" and calls it a "Heavy rail route". And I've checked multiple browsers, different devices, asked friends, it's still the same. Could it be for the Man City v Man United game at Wembley Stadium today? Is Chiltern running extra services or is Google just trying to show another route into Wembley?

Have Chiltern asked to be included?

I can see the section you mention on the map between West Ruislip - Wembley Stadium and another separate section between Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway. Seems very strange to include two seperate sections of the line. Either the whole thing or nothing. This is just confusing for people not familiar with the route.

Since Saturday, multiple other segments have been added in and around Greater London: - As will mentioned, there's another light-blue Chiltern segment between Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway (upon closer inspection, it's actually 3 segments clumped together: Amersham-AylesburyVP, Amersham-Aylesbury, Aylesbury-AylesburyVP)
- A maroon c2c segment from Basildon to Barking
- A dark-blue Southeastern segment from Gillingham to Canterbury East
- Another dark-blue Southeastern segment from Sevenoaks to Ashford International
- A black Southern segment from Gatwick Airport to Arundel
- A dark-blue Thameslink/Great Northern segment from Baldock to Cambridge
I think it'd be great if Google Maps is finally showing rail services in addition to the Underground (and Elizabeth Line, Overground, DLR and Trams), something that competitors like Apple Maps have been doing, but then you have to show all of them, not just random segments. This is just going to be more confusing for people.

You missed the Birmingham Air-rail link (red). The Newcastle yellow and green lines may have been there for some time. I wonder if this will suddenly stop like the Banksy sequence?

The light blue segments from West Ruislip to Wembley and from Aylesbury Vale Parkway to Amersham, and the maroon segment from Basildon to Barking, have been removed. All the other segments remain: dark blue from Gillingham to Canterbury East, dark blue from Sevenoaks to Ashford, dark blue from Baldock to Cambridge, and black from Arundel to Gatwick Airport.
I'm only mentioning the non-Underground segments of rail services that Google Maps is randomly showing near London.

Update: All the extra segments have been removed. It's back to usual, all that is shown is the Underground, Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR, and Trams.
That was altogether just very odd, Google Maps just added random bits of national rail services for a few weeks and removed them afterwards.
