..... Do we know how much these TfL assets represent 'on the books'? ..... Isn't that irrelevant? It's what you can get for them, which is more what they would be worth to a purchaser given that they need more work before they can be used.

It's called 'accountability'. It's very relevant when a publically-funded body is selling publically-funded assets.

These were built for the construction of JLE. They were needed for that purpose and when purchased there was no assumption of re-use after construction finished. Liken it to tunnel boring machines which are usually scrapped after they've been bored to death (sorry) and sometimes buried on site. But their conversion to battery operation has been a complete waste of money.

Battery conversion seems a waste, but, then, we are looking backwards with hindsight, and hindsight vision is always 20:20 especially from commentators outside of the specific issue.

Benefit of hindsight yes, but I suspect the comment about the battery conversion came from one who at the time was closer to the action than most of us!
