TfL's best chance of a long-term funding settlement like National Rail, if he can persuade Treasury to release the purse strings!

Lord Hendy would need to persuade the new Secretary of State for Transport Louise Haigh first, being only a Minister in the House of Lords.

Perhaps the case for new Bakerloo Line trains stands a better chance now?

I’d expect conversations about what he’d like to achieve, and what the SoS & PM might be able to support, would’ve been had before he agreed to take the role, quite possibly some time before the election. However, nothing’s guaranteed in politics. It’s often said all political careers end in failure but let’s hope that’s later rather than sooner in this case.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, the current Chancellor of the Exchequer has said the new government has inherited 'the worst set of circumstances since World War II' and 'tough choices will be made'
