Is something happening with this closed station? The LT Museum email has this bit on it:

So, what is happening at Down Street to end the Museum's access?

So, what is happening at Down Street to end the Museum's access? I contacted the museum. The closure is temporary for routine repair work, including on the ventilation system.

Actually, I've now got a different answer via email; the tour is being retired for the foreseeable future due to their lack of access.

Why spend money on the ventilation system at Down Street? I wonder if this is actually improving ventilation of the Picc.Line tunnels in preparation for the new air-conditioned trains which will presumably be expelling waste heat into the running tunnels.

Or the existing ventilation equipment might simply need overhaul or replacement just to keep it going, whether or not that includes any improvements or upgrades. Ventilation has been Down Street’s role ever since closure.

From when I went on the Down Street Hidden London tour in September last year they said it was to be closed for at least two years to allow them to add extra fans to improve ventilation as part of the 2024 stock.

Remember when they used Down St to reverse 67TS moves between Cockfosters and Northumberland Pk.
