There is currently a one per week EMU move of a 378 or 710 as needed between Willesden EMU depot and Wembley InterCity depot. I not sure what the work is, it might be wheel turning, or something quite different; whatever it is Willesden can't do it, nor, I assume, any other LO facility. I also do not know when these moves commenced, but it worked this week, and at the same time was being used for crew training to continue this move in future. The outbound working is conditionally Wednesdays same unit return 2 days later on Fridays. The reason this is of interest is crewing. It is not worked by LO drivers. I do know who the operator is, but unsure I should post it, so will not. It is not LO drivers not just because local crews do not sign the specific Willesden - Wembley route within the maze of tracks around there, but more as it involves running over Absolute Block signalled lines, and LO crews do not know AB; these days TOC drivers only learn those Rule Book parts relevant to their duty; no duty on AB lines = no learn those rules; in BR days all drivers learnt all rules. If nothing else, an example of how convoluted some of these things are, just to move an EMU a matter of ¬2 miles apart in a straight line. EDIT Having looked at RTT, the operator is listed there, so public already, it is Hanson & Hall.
