Can anyone tell me what was the colour of the original bench seats on underground platforms? I presume chocolate brown.
Thanks Tim

Are there any better pictures out there for the fire bucket arrangements on 1920s tube platforms? It looks like a hose reel cabinet with buckets hung off the sides. Presumably, just one per platform? Trying to get this info for the York Road model. Thanks Tim

These were probably unchanged in the 1970s! Midpoint of each platform, some buckets of water and some sand. Dark polished wooden cabinet with glass front for hose reel and water main riser. The fire department toured stations to check them.

Before a proper fire alarm system was installed at Hainault Depot the alarm was the Depot Foreman walking round the depot with a football rattle.

I hope he remembers to shout 'Fire!' and not 'Gas!...Gas!'.
