While having a poke on various tube stock Wikipedia pages, I stumbled across this photo of an unrefurbished D78 stock interior, but with a different moquette pattern. I had previously thought the D78 only had two moquettes in its service life, the orange/brown rectangle pattern as used on LT's Metrobus and Titan bus fleets and the 1983 stock, and the green/blue moquette introduced during the refurbishment. Does anyone know anything about this other moquette, whether it was only on a few trains or how long it was in service for?

It was installed not long before the units went off for refurbishment. Unit 7008, containing the trial refurbishment car 17008, was the first to receive it when displayed at Wimbledon station in January 2002 and that other units started to get it from March 2002, the armrests were also changed from brown to black. Unit 7008 initially fitted with blue/green/yellow/black trial moquette but this was swiftly changed. Cab seats certainly had more than three moquettes, with W&City '92 Stock, Victoria '67 Stock and red bus to name three extra

Thanks for the image - this seat fabric design was short-lived and I never even knew it existed until it was too late.
So I am delighted to have found an image with copyright status that permits reuse.

IMO D Stock was 'peak' London Underground (unless some of the T/OP's found it difficult!)
