Does anyone know why there is a train describer for westbound services on the upper concourse, but not one for eastbound?
Or have I just gone blind?

Perhaps ... because there are more westbound destinations whilst eastbound everything (usually*) follows the same route, even if some trains stop short of the ultimate destinations.
*) From this station District trains to High Street Kensignton are very rare.

In the main ticket hall there are train describers split by direction either side of the entrance gate line, Eastbound on the left-hand side and Westbound on the right-hand side. The smaller ticket hall has a similar arrangement but located above the ticket machines
