Further possibilities:
Surrey Quays/Docks was never served by 'Standard' stock.
All other stations have had their platforms rebuilt or extended bar Surrey Quays.
St. Johns Wood has never had a goods siding or yard.
Surrey Quays is the only one with a staggered pair of platforms.
Finsbury Park is the only one with platforms on different levels.
I don't think it is anything to do with the rebranding of the Northern City Line to the Highbury branch without a change of ownership, because the same has happened with the East London line - which was Met. No. 3 section (City Widened Lines was Met. No. 4) and then became the East London Line without a change of ownership.
Surrey Quays is the only one with a skew bridge.
I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here!

I'd stop scraping that barrel if I were you, you're further away from the answer than you were!

Ok then, St Johns Wood was the only station out of the four to be electrified from opening.

I'm absolutely rubbish on London Above.

While it's true that SQ is the only station of the four south of the river, that isn't the answer I'm looking for. You were closer yesterday

Finsbury Park doesn't have UTS gates - or am I joining mrfs42 in scraping the barrel here?

Is it something to do with ownership/building of the stations? That seems to be what you're hinting at. Like St Johns Wood is the only station to be opened by LU as opposed to one of it's predecessors.

Gah! I know I'll kick myself when you give the answer, but another possible theory - Surrey Quays is the odd one out as it is/was an SSL station and all the others are 'tube' line stations.

Finsbury Park may be the only LU station served solely by LU trains that isn't owned by LU - AFAIK the upper half of the station is owned by Network Rail, as a direct result of the fact that the GNR wasn't willing to grant wayleaves to the GNP&BR to build there and said that it would build the station itself.
Either that or it's the only deep-level tube station that is only reachable via stairs (as opposed to lifts or escalators).

Good answers, but not what I'm after.
I will say that Surrey Quays is the odd one out, but I'm not yet going to say why.

I'm now stumped - as I've said before I'm rubbish on London Above - London Below and the Floating Market are more my cup of tea.
<thinks>
Hmmm. GLC funding....
Hmmm. Station reconstruction........
No escalators or lifts?

- Sudbury Town was opened by the District Line and was rebuilt by LT for the hand over to the Piccadilly.
- St John's Wood was originally on the Met and was rebuilt for the Bakerloo and transferred to the Jubilee. The station was rebuilt by LT for the Stanmore extension.
- Finsbury Park used to be Northern Line and was rebuilt by LT for the Victoria.
Surrey Quays' surface building of station rebuilt 1979-1982 and subsequently renamed but did not change line ownership. Is the link that it will be developed for transfer to NR rather than transfer to another LU line?

Is the link that it will be developed for transfer to NR rather than transfer to another LU line? Almost spot on! "Surrey Quays is the odd one out, because there London Overground will replace the East London Line, at the others stations one Underground line replaced another - The Piccadilly replaced the District at Sudbury Town, the Jubillee replaced the Bakerloo at Swiss Cottage and the Victoria replaced the Northern at Finsbury Park."
