While at Uxbridge, I got a glimpse of a Metropolitan line train that had “Farringdon” listed briefly as its destination, before getting changed to Aldgate and then finally to Baker Street, which I found unusual. While it was simply an error on the drivers part setting it as the destination, I’m still curious: can the Met actually use Farringdon as a terminus?

Not currently, as the connection to the former sidings has been removed and the promised Farringdon City sidings have been paused. Farringdon is provided as a destination on S Stock.

The train would have to tip out passengers/customers at Farringdon and run empty to reverse at Moorgate. This of course is unlikely unless there were issues which prevented Barbican and Moorgate from opening.
Is the (in platform) crossover still at Farringdon or has this been removed? It’s too short for S8 and probably S7s as well?

As Dstock7080 says, it was removed in stages in January 2019.

What is happening to the crossover at Liverpool Street, like Farringdon, which is also in the platform. I know it gets use when the Hammersmith and City Line is suspended between Liverpool Street and Barking. Do drivers have to put the train into the tunnel abit so the train can use the crossover?

Still in use over 5A/5B points detrainment in platform required before shunting ahead to Limit of shunt board MRG002 is required for S7 & S8 and then require movement authority from Hold board MRG011.
