Why has there been many daily train cancellations on these branch lines for at least the last few weeks?

All branches seem to have been affected in turn. I deduce that there aren't enough operators available during the holiday season to maintain full service.

The holiday season shouldn't make much difference as holidays are rostered, with very few days outside this.

The holiday season shouldn't make much difference as holidays are rostered, with very few days outside this. Indeed, we don't get to pick our annual leave dates, we get them on a rota basis and if we want specific weeks we have to swap with another driver who has those weeks. Example This year I have 4 - 17 June (swapped for 18 June - 1 July), 10 - 23 September, 3 - 16 December and 10 - 23 March Next year I have 16 - 29 June, 22 September - 5 October, 15 - 28 December and 9 - 22 March We only get the two weeks including Christmas Day every seven years so 2024 will be my last before I retire. Ditto with New Year's Eve/New Year's Day. I think I get that off in 2026. And we never get Christmas and New Years Day in the same two week period And anyone who gets two weeks off during the school holidays is guaranteed that they will be asked to swap with drivers who have kids

I have also noticed discrepencies regarding departing trains between Citymapper and the TFL website. In one case the TFL website listed no departing trains for 11 minutes when there was a train 5 mins away (that arrived on time). However Citymapper will sometimes list a train that is not listed on the TFL website and also does not turn up (as it is cancelled).

There are plenty of "disappearing" trains on the SSL because there are many glitches in the Thales signalling system that haven't been fixed
But to answer your original question as to why there are so many cancellations on the Met and elsewhere its really quite simple
We don't have enough drivers and we don't have enough Instructor Operators to train new recruits to replace those leaving

Why has there been many daily train cancellations on these branch lines for at least the last few weeks? Top question. I brought this up with TfL and was basically told I was expecting too much for them to run a full service. Cheekily, they'd still branded it a Good Service.

Staffing and training have been 'rationalised'.
A 'rationalised' service is now running.
