Today is slightly different. Your task is to identify the four stations below, and find the link between them. It might be that you will have to work together on this one, or maybe we have someone who can spot it immediately. *Click on any image for a larger version* For ease, the top picture is named "A" the second is "B" the third "C" and the bottom is "D". If you could refer to the pictures as those letters in your answers, it would be easier for everyone.

Are they all currently undergoing re-furb?

The only one I can tell is Shepherd's Bush Met (B). It's near QPR.
(C) looks like it's on the Central. Total guess at Leyton. (for Leyton Orient)
(D) looks like it is used to dealing with big crowds.
(A) unfortunately I don't have a clue.
Total stab in the dark - you get off at these stations to go to football...

(A) looks somewhat like Uxbridge, while I think (D) is Tower Hill. For (C) I would guess Loughton. Now if Prakash is correct about (B) being Shepherds Bush then I would suggest that the thing all four stations have in common is that they have been relocated at one time or another in their history.

All are stations that have been moved from their original location - 1) Uxbridge moved to the new Holden station in 1938.
- 2) Shepherd's Bush moved in 1914 to its present location.
- 3) Loughton moved in 1865 for the Epping-Ongar extension.
- 4) Tower Hill was opened to replace Mark Lane in 1967.
That's what I think it is anyway!

After i'd gone to work this morning I had a rethink and came up with the same thing about stations being re-located. Of course i've been beaten to it now but I thought it was a pretty good guess considering I only knew one of them!
PS: There's no bay road at Shepherd's Bush - The only reversing points on the branch are Hammersmith and Royal Oak (handsignalled in emergencies).

Yes, they have all been re-located. In Tower Hill's case, twice I believe!

Yes, the Met quickly rushed round from Aldgate to build a Tower of London station when the two companies were 'forced' to complete the Inner Circle! Mark Lane was the replacement station and in the late 60s Tower Hill was built on the original Tower of London station site!

If the ticket office was originally on that side of Uxbridge station, what was where the ticket office now is?

That's what I think it is anyway! Spot on! Station A: Uxbridge ticket office Station B: Shepherd's Bush (Hammermsmith & City Line) westbound platform. Station C: Loughton viewed from the approach road. Station D: Tower Hill exit *Click on any picture above for larger version* All pictures taken by ChrisM The link is that all the stations have moved - Uxbridge in 1938, Shepherd's Bush in 1914, Loughton in 1865 and Tower Hill in 1967.
