It’s been 13 years since I retired from the Underground,do they still use TOMAS(Train operations and scheduling)or has a new system superseded it?

I think it's been over 30 years since I last used TOMAS but I know that when they tried to introduce DMMS to replace it, the new system struggled with the whole idea of serialised components like motors and bogies and cars having child-parent links which could be broken and re-made, but still had to retain the individual component life histories. Luckily (for them) Keith Paynter was both a Fleet Manager and amateur programmer, and fixed the whole problem for them. I fondly? remember the TOMAS 0330 report - at Hainault we had some single-ended units and the Ongar branch to supply, plus good and stopped units to juggle. Not as bad as Golders or Morden with 4? different stocks and 3 & 4 car units, and wrong-way-rounds, but bad enough. I remember the Stopped Car list, the bloody robbing, and the phone calls from the FM! But glad I don't have to deal with the 1992TS.

Were you at Hainault when Keith Paynter was the Depot Manager?
