The replacement bus today (? CL5) was advertised on the TfL website as Stratford - Snaresbrook - South Woodford - Woodford but was actually going as far as Loughton.
Presumably this is to take the pressure off Woodford?
It seemed to stop at Roding Valley, Buckhurst Hill and Loughton.

I was on the Victoria line this morning. The scrolling display stated that the central line was suspended between Liverpool Street and Woodford, but the voice-over stated between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone.

Is that the noisy bit they are sorting? Well it was grinded which sorted the noise out for a few weeks but let's just hope this track replacement fixes it |

On a local area discussion forum someone complained about the train strike closing the Central line and that her sister went to Walthamstow with the aim of catching a taxi to her home in Wanstead.
Whilst at Walthamstow some supposed mini cab drivers tried to strong arm her into their vehicle, but her parents had taught her how to look after herself so she was able to break free and with the assistance of some bouncers at a pub / nightclub she was able to catch a taxi back home without further concern for her well-being.
I explained the real reason for the closure and that there was a special replacement bus service (etc).
I think this was Saturday night.

Can’t the move at Northolt be done in ATO ? Going east ATO wouldn't stop at the limit of shunt board, it would keep going until it came up against a zero code or it reached Greenford! Going back west over the points into platform 1 is over a shunt signal so ATO is not available |

I almost hit it while doing my driver training, fortunately my IO could see it coming a mile off and intervened before I had the chance. Certainly taught me a lesson to remember! The only time I’ve done that move in anger was back in May when there was an emergency services response at Greenford. |

Baring in mind if this was done normally it would cause a congestion of trains. I know trains terminating at Liverpool Street on the westbound use the wrong road shunt signal and go into the sidings from there. I've only seen it once when there was a suspension between White City and Liverpool Street due to a points failure at Marble Arch, with the odd train using going to the limit of shunt, just west of Liverpool Street. The majority of them would reverse in the sidings. |

One driver brings it in to Liverpool Street, a second driver gets on the rear, the first driver takes it west from Platform 5, the second brings it back east over the points onto Platform 4 and the first driver gets on the rear of their next train. Works well as long as everyone remembers to be in the right place at the right time |

One driver missed the "limit of shunt" board and ended up at Bank That's happened a few times at different limit of shunt boards. They're generally not permitted for new installations and a controlled signal should be provided to terminate the move * - I'm surprised they persisted on the Central considering the change in philosophy came at a similar time. (The Central line resignalling may have come slightly ahead.) * - When King's Cross (Circle) was resignalled in 2015 we provided both at the request of the Train Operator TU reps, though there was no technical reason for the Limit of Shunt sign. |
