content.tfl.gov.uk/station-abbreviations.pdfDoes anyone know when these different TLAs (Three Letter Abbreviations) would be used? It does seem weird how in many cases the same codes aren't used for 1 station even though it's the same station. - London Underground Published Codes - Track Plate Codes & GIS Codes - Track Access Codes - Ellipse Codes - SAP & SSS Codes

Track plate codes are used on the little yellow plaques on rails which give a dimension from station to station. They're positioned every 20m.
Ellipse codes are the ones used in the Asset Database for former Metronet Lines (all except the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines).
SAP is the HR and Financial system, so a code there might be used for staff rostering and allocation.

I was surprised at the need to change several stations' TLAs on the SSR lines for the ATC project so as to be different from those used by the same ATC supplier for those same stations on the Jubilee and Northern. If this carries on we could need quite a lot of different versions for King's Cross!

I don't know but the King's Cross abbreviations before and after Thales on SSR are amongst those shown in the table linked in an earlier post in the thread.

When are the London Underground Published codes used? It's interesting how we can't use them in the Journey Planner.
