I thought that this, from the Guardian was rather nice, and also on topic, here.

While Peter Brookes’ Times cartoon captured something of the sense of dislocation:

At the moment HM The King just doesn’t sound right.

All I'll say is she'll be an impossible act to follow;if they were all like her, it might be another story.

It's very sad that I've had to remove a political opinion from this thread. You can be disinterested, that's fine, but in that case please don't use this thread to discuss your favoured alternates.

Just considering the vast changes that have occurred during her reign, in London and the world... wow. And not one but TWO lines named for her... now that's something. I haven't known any other monarch of course - I don't think many have in this country - but she did seem to have that sense of service and duty. Couldn't say it better than a heartfelt "Thank you, ma'am".

Corgis. That is what I knew Elizabeth II best for.
Her love of Corgis. Lots of Corgis. At least 30 Corgis overall during her tenure. At least one Corgi on standby to help the Queen warm the hearts of the world, no matter how dark the situation was. Corgis cute enough to compete with the Japanese Shiba Inu.
That is what I remember Elizabeth II the best for: CORGIS !!!
I wonder what Charles III will have as a pet? I hope it is a cute Japanese Shiba Inu.
