Couldn't find any other mention but South Kensington will be reopening on 1 June 2022, after closing on 27 February 2021 while all 5 escalators, installed in 1973 were replaced.

I know this is in the Piccadilly line section, but for those people in the future who find this thread in search results, etc, the whole station didn't close it was just the Piccadilly line platforms.

Thanks.
The incessant announcements mentioning opening spring 2022 got irritating when spring 2022 actually arrived, even though they could still be correct.

I was on the Picc tonight and after leaving Knightsbridge it merrily announced that the next station was South Ken. It wasn't as we went through without stopping.

I think class 411 above was complaining about the announcements on S stock about South Ken and advising how to change to the Picc elsewhere. Can't please all the people all the time.

It wasn't the whole of the announcement that was irritating, just the part where it said 'until spring 2022'. It's being picky, I know, but 'will open during spring 2022' would have been fine.

There's the odd train where the voice announcer wasn't updated and if the driver doesn't spot the missing "SKC" sticker in the cab, it'll happily announce it as the next station. Last night, the cleaners were out and using some cleaning chemical that caused very strong nail varnish type smells in the tunnels around the station. Drivers were treated to stinging eyes as they travelled through before the cleaning was halted.

I checked and 'will open during spring 2022' couldn't be constructed from the current library of words and phrases. I too thought spring 2022 was being a bit brave!
