Travelled on an Uxbridge bound train from Finchley Road today. I was in the first car, 21016, and there was an irregular, severe thumping noise from the next car when up to speed, especially bad as far as Wembley Park, but the train was inevitably slower thereafter. Told the driver when we arrived at Uxbridge at around 11.30.

I too have reported this loud 'banging' noise to a Driver but that was some three to four weeks ago. Since then, I have travelled on 21015/016 a couple of times and still the defect has not been addressed. The noise seems to be coming from the outside of the inter-car gangway connection between 21016 and 22016 and as 'orienteer' mentions, is much louder when the train is operating at speed and is very annoying. 21015/016 only returned to service from overhaul a few weeks ago.

The depot is now aware and it is under investigation.

Any news on the outcome?

graeme186 had determined the location of the fault, turns out the stabilisation rod that sits on top of one half of the intercar gangway had become damaged; this rod acts like a damper.
