Has there been an issue with the Victoria Line at least over the last 2 days. Intervals between trains seems to be longer and certainly a lot busier. I noticed this morning that the train I got on showed set number 6 as opposed to the normal 2xx.

I’ve noticed a bit of a hit n miss service lately. This morning for example, a train arrived and waited 5 minutes and there was a train waiting behind for around 3 minutes. No announcements made. Doesn’t seem like the normal regulation of service if there is a train right behind!

Covid cases are rising quickly again and there is a nasty little cold going around (got it myself currently) which might affect staff numbers.
The inconsistent time gaps in service, along with the filthy external condition of the trains, the worn, dirty and shabby fabric seats, many internal lights out on some trains - the "managed decline" we've been threatened with looks more like a fast descent into decrepitness.
Unbelievably (to me) these solid workhorses are now 10 years old. Despite the initial problems when entering service - most notably with overly sensitive edge doors - they fast became a worthy successor to the valiant 67 stock especially when they took full advantage of the new signalling system and full end to end step back running.
When are they due a major overhaul to ensure continued good service?

When are they due a major overhaul to ensure continued good service? They are currently undergoing replacement of the couplings between cars and a modification to the ventilation system, which basically replaces a bellows looking device with smooth hollow aluminium tubing, to improve air-flow. (S8s are just undergoing their first programme-lift overhaul).

The bogie and brakes / air system overhaul has been completed and as Dstock7080 notes the coupler overhaul has just started. Door overhaul should follow along with some of L7 tasks (the less frequent overhaul items).
Regards,
Dan

That's great to hear! As you can see - living in 7 Sisters it is my gateway to the rest of the world. I can stand a cosmetically filthy dilapidated train as long as it is reliable and mechanically sound. I never sit on the underground anyway.
Hopefully the new wash facilities will be completed by the end of the year - as to which year...?
