I don't even know what the 'transplant fleet' is, and Google isn't much (any) help.

I don't even know what the 'transplant fleet' is, and Google isn't much (any) help. Putting "transplant" into the forum search, this was one of the first hits: Engineering department within LU responsible for the fleet of battery powered locos/trains aswell as a plethora of other engineering capabilities carried out either in house or in conjunction with appointed contractors such as Balfour Beatty. From a vague memory I believe their are based around Ruislip Depot and Acton works following the Earls Court Redevelopment project affecting Lillie Bridge Depot.

Unfortunately, the forum search is (usually) so utterly useless that I went straight to Google. In this particular instance that would appear to have been a sub-optimal decision.

The Chinese wagons are what?
Does that mean 'defective' and hence unusable?
Buy cheap, buy twice.

The Chinese wagons are what? Curved or twisted, I think.

A new fleet of engineering wagons from CRRC, the world’s largest rolling stock manufacturer, await testing of prototypes. The first four prototype wagons are in the UK and undergoing final engineering works before dynamic testing can begin. They will then be joined by a further three prototype wagons to undergo infrastructure testing on the London Underground network, after which the remaining 66 wagons will enter production in China before being shipped to the UK in early 2023. [TfL Investment Programme Report - Quarter 2 2021/22 (30 May – 21 August 2021)]
"undergoing final engineering works" probably means being straightened out then! Perhaps it happened during shipment.
The Programmes & Investment Committee meeting of March 2021 learnt that in Autumn 2020 four pre-production wagons arrived in the UK from China. These were delayed due to the Chinese factory being shut during the height of the coronavirus pandemic. Testing of these four wagons for certification of safe use on LU and Network Rail infrastructure has also unfortunately been delayed. This is due to initial inspection revealing a requirement for some remediation work before dynamic testing can commence. Subsequent contract negotiations and arranging of representation from China to physically inspect the wagons (including periods of quarantine upon arrival in the UK) has significantly delayed the milestone of commencing full production of the remaining 69 wagons, planned for this year.

The first four of the new wagons (BW001, BW002, FW001 & FW002) have recently arrived at The Chinnor & Princess Risborough Railway from Eastleigh where there had some 'rectification work' undertaken - I have heard loose bolts mentioned. The four vehicles have been fitted with sensors by Data Acquisition & Testing Services Ltd. (D.A.T.S.) and they are monitoring the performance of the wagons while running up and down the line. They need to accumulate 1200 km of running for the tests prior to LU accepting them.
The train has D.A.T.S.'s HST power (43 066) at one end and Chinnor’s Class 37 (37 227) at the other.
The tests will be running weekdays for the next couple of weeks.

Since: It seems to me around 20 months is a long time to fix some loose bolts!
