It is the master switch for the entire current supply for London Underground. I suspect that part 2 of the quiz will show the adjoining 13-amp fuse and electricity meter with pre-pay card slot.

South End of Northbound at Kingsbury. Interesting! I can only think of the relay room at that location (s/e of n/b) which was my office and workshop circa 1988 when I was installing and commissioning the PA and station to station telephones between Wembley Park and Stanmore but it wasn't painted white then. If that is the location I suspect it has been painted to cover up the graffiti. Actually the light fitting is interesting as it's an obsolete part. It is identical to those used as tunnel telephone marker lights in the T4 loop. Brian

South End of Northbound at Kingsbury. Interesting guess - my guess is the side of one of the relay rooms at Dollis Hill.

Yep, that's definitely Kingsbury northbound relay room. It's looking rather shabby these days. 20 years ago there was a couple of fuse bays, a Westinghouse wall hung signalling rack and the floor mounted PA cubicle which I was commissioning located in there. In the winter the internal aluminium lining suffered terrible condensation problems as there was no heat generating equipment in the room including the tubular wall heater which had very low output. I used the place to prefabricate conduit and equipment panels, it was the practise in those days to locate and utilise available space close to worksites. Kingsbury was convenient with McDonalds just outside and a nice pub on the corner of the nearby roundabout for a couple of jars at lunchtime in the days before D&A !!! Parking, however, was in the Queensbury station car park!

Are these mice unionised ? ;D I never met them, they must've moved in after I vacated the property which was home on day shift for about 6 to 8 weeks as I recall.
