Following a BBC article about the weather (https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-57963856)-
it doesn't seem like excess rain has affected rail service as much as staff shortages have. Yes/no? Looks like 9 stations are currently closed for flooding; are the lines not stopping at those (e.g. Covent Garden) or are lines actually blocked in places (Woodford/Hainault)? A mix?
With all this playing hob with the services today, what does tomorrow look like, service wise?

With all this playing hob with the services today, what does tomorrow look like, service wise? Depends how deep the tracks were flooded, how much signalling equipment was damaged, stations escalators, lifts, trains stranded etc. I would expect Monday 26 July 2021 will be a day to look on the TfL website to see how the service is affected.

Well, obviously there will be reports tomorrow, but what are people seeing today?

Seems we fared considerably better than the storms of 12 July, with no Line closures this morning and only Stepney Green closed because of overnight flooding.

The 12th was surreal!
We got on at Pimlico, and it was just spitting. By the time we got to Victoria the announcements were coming thick and fast.
"The Hammersmith and City line is suspended." "The Circle line is part suspended." "The Metropolitan line is part suspended." "The Central line is suspended between Marble Arch and White City."
To anyone unfamiliar with the layout of LU (and hence probably not suspecting the the Met, Hammersmith and City and Circle line suspensions were likely caused by a common factor), it must have been quite unsettling.
By the time we got to Euston the Circle line was no longer being mentioned so we backtracked to Green Park and got to Shepherd's Bush, skipping a few stations along the way.

There was also District suspended Earl's Court-Embankment and Earl's Court-Edgware Road (flooding affecting equipment at Gloucester Road)- problems were still occurring on Friday 16 July Circle H&C were suspended after an eastbound train went into deep floodwater in Royal Oak dip, train not recovered until Tuesday 13 July. Flooding in tunnels around Baker Street also added to that. Barons Court, Bond Street, Cannon Street, Chalk Farm, Earl's Court, Edgware Road (both), Golders Green, Hampstead, High Street Kensington, Holland Park, Kilburn Park, Marble Arch, Marylebone, Notting Hill Gate, Regent's Park, Sloane Square, South Kensington - stations were all closed at the height of the storm on 12 July.

At one point yesterday Wood Lane control centre told all trains to remain on platforms as there were so many track circuit failures they couldn't cope. Woodford to Hainault suspended due to flooding at Chigwell, major signalling issues in both directions at Woodford until around 7pm and there was even a bit of leaking reported at Bank.
Hainault was closed for about 30 minutes which meant we were tipping out at Fairlop, Gants Hill closed as usual (terrible drainage problems) and Leytonstone closed so we were stopping to change over TOps but not opening the doors

We had a terrific monsoon-style downpour yesterday, it came in two tranches, with much lightening and thunder too.
With reference to the problems in the Woodfoord area, road traffic reports said that parts of the North Circular Road (which the Central line crosses in this area) were closed, plus the A1400 Woodford Avenue.
I do not know if Redbridge station was affected but the A406 and A12 directly above it were also inundated and had to be partially closed - a very dramatic move!
Newbury Park station does not normally flood but when there is heavy rain the passageways below the A12 Eastern Avenue which allow people from the southern side of the road to reach the station sometimes become inundated.
The road outside my house was flooded, something like 6 inches deep. Some of my neighbours were beyond panic stricken because water was lapping on their front door steps and when cars passed by the wash they created saw water entering their houses.
But it was not all bad ... I did not need to water the garden!
London's problems pale in to significance compared to what happened in one Chinese city where several metro trains were stranded in flooded tunnels and there is footage online showing people calmly awaiting rescue whilst standing in water chest high. These were the lucky ones, because they were indeed rescued - led to safety on emergency walkways alongside the tracks. Also seen (through the train windows) was water rushing past the train and water cascading down stairways - viewed from what were probably inside ticket halls just below ground. This location had a year's worth of rain in mere days.

Redbridge and Newbury Park remained open, however Gants Hill closed at 1600 and Leytonstone at 1820. A landslide at Grange Hill added to the issues.

I passed over the A406 just north of South Woodford station twice yesterday. first time around 17:45 it was severely flooded, closed both directions with a car half submerged in the anti-clockwise direction, second time around 19:00 they'd opened it clockwise towards Ilford, still closed in the other direction and the car had gone.

A landslide at Grange Hill added to the issues. I think that's called a (dis)courtesy detail.
The Beeb's web site has a video that starts with Pudding Mill Lane DLR, with what I'm guessing is at least 200mm of water across the street level (could be wrong, based on my guess at the Oystercard machine).

Oh my goodness, even the inside of a bus was inundated! I also noted the A406 in the Woodford area / approximately below the Central line. What a crazy day it was. Thanks for that link. edit to add... Whilst we do not normally include buses in our discussions here I hope that this tweet of mine will be excused as it is directly relevant to the topic of the floods on Sunday 25/7/21 People being rescued from a bus by a dingy (and by being carried)
