The thread on Chief Mechanical Engineers has got me thinking that I should probably record the Chief Signal Engineers and the associated roles after the CSE disappeared.:
1933 - 1940 W.S. Every
1940 - 1970 R. Dell
1970 - 1976 H.W. Hadaway
1976 - 1979 L.S. Lawrence
1979 - 1985 V.H. Smith (as Director of Signal and Electrical Engineering)
1985 - 1989 M.W. Heaton (role then known as Principle Signal & Communications Engineer).
1989 - ?? E. O. Goddard
?? - 2015 J.M. Irwin (title changed again, becoming 'The Signal Engineer' for the much reduced LU Chief Engineer's Directorate in the PPP Years, then again to Professional Head of Signalling)
2015 - 2022 M. Harvie (title changed again in 2018 to Head of Traffic Control Systems)
