In this very odd story someone claims to have experienced a time-slip back to the 1980s at Victoria tube station www.dailystar.co.uk/news/weird-news/time-travelling-exorcist-claims-went-24238009I wasn't there, but their description of the stations as empty during rush hour and the escalators as "pristine" doesn't match what I've seen in pictures. Indeed it sounds more likely be the tube in 2020 with enhanced cleaning and few travellers. (ps I was really unsure where to put this thread, sorry if I guessed wrong)

(ps I was really unsure where to put this thread, sorry if I guessed wrong) I was a Station Inspector at Victoria Underground station and there was no “Glass Dome” and the escalators were cleaned by staff on a regular basis.

I remember using the Victoria Line form Victoria occasionally pretty-much from day one and it was always very busy. It is and was a popular line. The whole story sounded a load of duff notes for me,so I think it's just a work of fantasy. Has he got a book about to be published?

The system as a whole was quite run-down in the 80s. I suppose that the (then) relatively new Victoria line may not have looked as bad though.
The station was overcrowded in the peaks from almost day one!

I suppose the one advantage of being sent back in time at Victoria is it makes it harder to miss your train.

I remember being sent as a 17 year old from Charing Cross before it's change of name to Embankment with £100 to buy a bag of silver because Victoria always had plenty of change while Charing cross used to run out. All I can remember of Victoria District was a very old ticket office. I had to bring it back standing by a doorway with the bag of silver on the floor because it was so heavy.
I wonder if the Victoria District line had a light well over the tracks left over from steam days when most of the stations had some form of natural light.
Never worked at Victoria because staffing transferred to the Victoria line when it opened.
