I suspect it's looking out of the 'back door' at Kew Gdns on the pub side. Somehow that oragey-yellow color rings a bell. Isn't that the reverse side of the DR crest on the upper window area? The terrace area of the adjoining pub ought to be outside I think.
And clearly Stonehenge -- or Salem MA USA ;D

I was going to say South Kensington ... but then noticed the domestic looking house opposite with gable end....

Stonehenge from the north I think. Can't decide if it was from the road side of the fence or inside, thus costing the visitor centre fee!

I can assure you it isn't Parsons Green, Putney Bridge or anywhere on the Wimbledon Branch of the District south of Earls Court. I say it possibly could be the scrolling Iron Work above South Kensington station facing onto Exhibition Road.

If it's not on the Wimbledon branch (I still think it might be... but it's not my area of expertise... could it be on the Hounslow branch of the District?

I thought I was off my rail trolley when I thought along the same lines, literally, as wmy, but I go for Stamford Brook, as I thought that Ravenscourt Park entrance faced the left, ie. the other way round. Unless the photo is flipped. I am sure that it's an iron railway bridge in the background.

Ok is it somewhere on the Northern? Running out of ideas. That's definitely an iron bridge in the background.

As a note about the Stonehenge picture comment on page 1, I think it is from the north but I'll check when I get home and post again if it isn't. The photo was taken from inside the fence - as a life member of English Heritage entry is free for me

I would say that the photo was taken just outside the roped-off area, judging by the visitors in the background, and must have been taken from the north side inside the road fence.
