I've read it over a few times, and it seems that it's just a vintage train operating on normal routes; not a 'heritage line' at all.

It’s a shame that London doesn’t have the same attitude to heritage services. Here, we just run them as specials at rip-off prices.

Anyone wanting to really understand the NY Subway as it functions to day will find Peter Dougherty’s Tracks of the New York City Subway indespensible. Peter’s book is available in both print and pdf. form www.nyctrackbook.com/It's worth pointing out that Peter no longer sells to the UK as his product is less than £135 (which means the seller is liable to pay VAT to HMRC). The fact that books are zero rated was considered by his legal advisor to be irrelevant and their opinion was that he was still obliged to register for VAT, which he wasn't prepared to do.
