I'd say somewhere up the northern end of the Piccadilly Line between Finsbury Park and Bounds Green.

I'd agree. I'm also going to put Wood Green forward as the likely candidate.

It's definitely Wood Green I think, and the tripcock tester lamp beneath "wash and wipe..." gives it away!

Is that a shunt signal, set for the siding?

Is that a shunt signal, set for the siding? It looks like a repeater for station staff/ guard for a shunt signal move.

Yes, and set for the siding, hence the photo? Seems like yesterday when so may WG reversers were the norm. WG was used by Yours Truly in 1979 and 1980 to get to Ally Pally to do his professional exams. And also to get to the North London Transport Society meets!

Its used a lot during reforms/short tripping - as it is rare for trains to run in timetable order east of Acton!

Wood Green definately NB the panel in the pic is for the sidings current. But the other square light that isn't lit up below the "wash and wipe down only" sign is a trip cock tester lamp though??? Or is it something else?

Quite a few have it right again. The answer supplied by Chris reads; Wood Green with the repeater off for an EB reversing move. [MRFS42]

Yes, and set for the siding, hence the photo? Seems like yesterday when so may WG reversers were the norm. Indeed, I happened to be on a WB from King's Cross, hoping to get out to Cockfosters; by Krapy Rubsnif we'd changed into a Wood Green reverser. Your comment about WG reverses has prompted me to look through the TT mound as I've got a fairly full run of Picc WTTs from 1957 until the present. It certainly seems that WGs status has changed somewhat over the years from: TTN 5/67 (amending WTT 91) 'revision to the Picc Line evening peak to eliminate reversing at Wood Green between 17.55 and 19.00 and increase the service to Cockfosters between 18.00 and 19.40'; to a note in WTT 32 thirty years later: '5 trains have been scheduled to reverse at Wood Green'. Perhaps away from the madness of Summer I'll do a bit of analysis; still puzzling over 1950's Met description codes. ;D
