Now I have heard and seen Districts trying to explore the line to Acton from Gunnersbury but I never ever heard of an NL train going off in the direction of Turnham Green. Has it been done?

Wouldn't there be problems because the LU running rails are not bonded for return traction current? What would it do to the LU signalling circuits?
As Sir Humprey Appleby once said: "I foresee all sorts of unforeseen complications".

They can go as far as the long rail gap at Acton Lane Bridge as the rails are bonded that far. That is long enought to get 12 cars in to reverse him back.

Hopefully this link will show a picture of 313021 on Weds 25 September 1991. At about 16.52 it accepted the wrong stick at Gunnersbury UP and proceeded towards Turnham Green. It was only after it passed over the BR/LT section gap that it stopped. It was eventually moved by cl.31 (31.144) dispatched from Willesden at 19.05. (LT not having any Tightlock coupling adaptors!) www.wlpta.co.uk/gallery/albums/UndergrounD-pictures/313021_Turnham_Grn.jpg©John S. Laker

How the hell did he manage to go that far? He must have been a sleep or a brand newbie. I assume that having no negative return path after the rail gap was what stopped him?
