As the class 315s are gradually retired, I was surprised by the seating in this unit at Cheshunt today. Interior maps were for Chingford/Enfield Town/Cheshunt services but the seating not the usual overground orange ...can anyone explain? 20200526_144942 by james tuite, on Flickr 20200526_145006 by james tuite, on Flickr

Unit transferred from TfL Rail, the exterior livery probably retained blue and white, not Overground orange

I suspect that this is TFL Rail seat fabric - it would make sense, given the train's external livery!
edit to add ... two replies, almost simultaneously!!

Exactly that. Currently there are 5 ex-TfL Rail units in use with ARL, in part to cover for ARL units that ran out of mileage before the 710s were ready, and in part to cover an increased unit requirement following the end of an agreement with Greater Anglia to use a set of 317s in the peak at the December timetable change.
All have received external Overground roundels and interior line diagrams, but no other changes.
They are 315822, 25, 27, 31 and 36.

And yes, I saw the same unit again today and a closer look at the exterior OVERGROUND roundrels shows the old blue TFL RAIL version beneath... 2020-05-31_09-01-13 by james tuite, on Flickr

Quite a significant number of class 315s have now transferred from TfL Rail to London Overground (and indeed two transferees have now been scrapped!), predominantly to replace units either with considerable damage or that have run out of miles to overhaul. There are likely to be a few more move over (displaced by 345s) due to the ongoing delays to class 710 rollout (now driver training).
