Arriving on the main line platforms, Can i turn left off the train Or right depending on what platform) and access the H+C platforms via stairs at the country end and the old cab road, or do i have to schlep down to the concourse and go up via p15? I will have a travelcard z1-6

Yes, you can go via the old cab road. There’s a new separate gate line/entrance separate from the GWR station.

For platforms 1-9 it depends which end of the train you are at, if you are at the front, I usually go through the gateline by the buffers and walk around as I don't fancy going against the flow as it were. For platforms 10 and 11, the footbridge is set quite a bit further back and it's only worth going that way if you are right at the country end of the train. Platform 12 has a gateline halfway down the platform which is immediately next to the escalators for Paddington (Suburban) and much more convenient than the contryend foot bridge which does a u-turn from these platforms. With restricted access to the Bakerloo line entrance on the main concourse at present and the resulting congestion it is sensible to exit via the country end staircases for the H&C/Circle. There can be congestion at certain times as there are only a few gates but the staff open the gates if this gets too bad.
This is also true if you want to get to Praed Street from the country end of a train. Turn right at the exit from the bridge and you can see a street exit ahead of you.

Thanks for all the info.
will file it, for future use
I understand the old stairs from the Met lines to the 'suburban' platforms are now closed which involves a a much langer walk! It was nice to just do a quick up and down if the train to West Drayton was about to leave in a couple of minutes
