95% of my time on the underground was on the District Line and on open sections. The dirtiest stations, and I was in the ticket office, dust (brake dust) wise were Aldgate East, Mile End, Monument where you did get a black handkerchief from blowing your nose after a few hours. These stations have a booking hall just under the road level.
