The 4TC set is being used for a railtour from Eastleigh to Swanage on the 23rd for the Swanage railway diesel gala. Presumably it was cheaper to just send them all at the same time. Doesn't look like you can book tickets in the inspection saloon unless some of the first class tickets are in there TO Swanage only on 23 APRIL (the month is kind on useful in posts like this!); returns from Swanage 26 April. 33012 + gbrf 73. Noted mods comment upthread about LU train on LU metals but it's kind of drifted already, and the post I'm replying to possibly increases confusion, and I'll add even more if I post my comment somewhere else.

It's a Class 33 diesel. Although not a 33/1 that would be capable of working push-pull with a 4TC.

Always wondered if it was coincedence that the diesels used 'SR' numbering I think it's just coincidence. All ex-Southern steam locomotives were numbered in the 3xxxx series, usually simply by adding 30,000 to their original numbers although classes, like the Q1s, that were numbered in Bulleid's quirky system acquired completely new numbers. Under TOPS, diesels are classified in order of power rating - the 1,550hp D6500s (class 33s) being intermediate between the 1,470hp D5500s (class 31) and the 1,700hp D7000s (class 35). The reason for the omission of classes 32 and 34 is open to speculation, but probably not on this forum.

Good point about the month! I've edited the post to clarify. Perhaps it would be worth me creating a separate thread about heritage vehicles off LU metals?

Details of the rail tours can be found on the Branch Line Society's website, www.branchline.uk/current-fixtures.php. The tours are 'The Jurassic Crompton' and 'The Return of the Jurassic Crompton'.
