A temporary closure notice has been posted for the footpath running by the east side of the track between Debden station and the Bank of England printing works (including, presumably, the concrete footbridge that spans the station). Anyone know why? (the County Council notice just refers to delivery of materials to TFL). Also, there have been a lot of PW night works, much hated by the residents. Any thoughts?

SFA Step-free Access works, including new lifts etc. It is indeed for SFA - and hopefully there will be lots of upgraded trains serving it when the project is completed and the trains refurbished - hmm, which will be finished first...
Years ago when I was involved in early discussions about this scheme we were keen to keep the SFA bridge 'clear' of the existing heritage footbridge and there was some debate around refurbishing/reconstructing the concrete public footpath overbridge to form the SFA bridge as the location is more central to the ticket hall/gate line but from what I recall spatially it didn't add up and the strongest option was an entirely new structure of lift towers and overbridge at the far north end of the platforms clear of canopies, etc. I suspect that is what has been worked up.

From the plans, linked to above (p. 13), the height of the new overbridge with respect to the Central Line rolling stock is huge. I reckon the clearance would accept full sized mainline stock with 25 kV overhead wires. Is this future-proofing for CrossRail 3?
