Answer:
None of you was spot on, but Artery was close enough to get the kudos - this is Archway, but southbound.

Yes, I refrained from answering since I was there when the photo was taken: I could have given date and exact time

it is a sign mounted on the left-hand (driver's side) tunnel wall, just beyond the platform headwall.
FDCO means "Front Door Cut-Out", which is an instruction to the drivers to "cut-out" the front doors of the first carriage so they don't open - the platform is too narrow at that point due to a machine room.
The "Doors other side" is a reminder to open the doors on the other of the train to this notice (i.e. the right hand side), as that is the side the platform is on. I don't know if there were issues with a previous design of this notice that didn't include this reminder, or whether this is just a precaution against confusion (which is sensible imho).

Hence, 'Fud-dee-co'!
generally, if you happen to pass the platform stopping mark and can see this sign, operate the FDCO button, this will cut out the first set of doors, as they may be in the tunnel... Another sign, with FDCO LIMIT a bit further on, means this is the absolute limit as to which the FDCO can be operated, those doors will definately be in the tunnel. passing the FDCO LIMIT marker may mean virtually thw whole first car is in the tunnel, doing this means procedures have to be implemented... which may involve missing that stop, and inconvieniencing passengers [if they havent already tried to escape]
