This indicator has been out of order for at least a couple of weeks now, necessitating a a permanently allocated station assistant to announce train destinations. What is the problem with it?

I tend to get there each evening at around 17:50, and there are two indicators as to what the problem might be.
1) It seems to be running 2h25m behind the rest of GMT. 2) When I get there it is usually trying to connect and is showing its IP address configuration etc, so its config is probably out of kilter.
Another point is that if you're looking at the working indicator from the bottom end of the platform, it only displays the first train arriving, but on the other side it shows trains 2, 3 and 4 as usual.

I only got a brief glimpse as we pulled into Finchley Road this morning, but I'm fairly sure one of the DMIs on the Northbound Met platform was displaying "Jubilee line Northbound Trains". Now, that WOULD be a trick!. I can confirm that I ended up where I wanted to be (HoH) and not Stanmore!...
The DMI in question was the one near the entrance stairs, and the side that I viewed the erroneous message on was the side that people entering the platform via the stairs would see.

Now that is interesting. On Saturday the one nearest the stairs was working whilst the one furthest from the stairs was displaying ‘Metropolitan Line Northbound Trains’. Look back through media posts it seems the aforementioned was the regular not displaying departures.
I know “wire crossing” is a huge sweeping generalisation often used to describe what are often much more nuanced issues but could just be that the source for the Northbound is just suffering from interference?

This evening none of them worked. All lines, all directions.

Today (Sunday 4th August), all indicators for the Metropolitan line were up and running. SB displaying next services as normal. NB indicator nearest stairs still displaying just one service but the one towards the helm of the platform is displaying the full complement.
There’s a lot of new or recently galvanised junction boxes and cable runs around the DMI’s, not clear if they pertain specifically to their operation or are just more ATC (Automatic Train Control) infrastructure for the next migration zone.

If they are not going to show us train destinations, the very least they can do is to show us an IP address! 😤

If they are not going to show us train destinations, the very least they can do is to show us an IP address! 😤 LOL - but if its anywhere near being accessible on the public Internet then its better that the IP address is not disclosed. Why? well... I suspect that it showing a Met train (with the Pullman car near this sign) to Verney Junction calling at Ricky, Amersham and then all stations would confuse the passengers! However by way of contrast, Uxbridge Express - next stop Rayners Lane then Ruislip and all stations - might please many passengers, especially those who bemoan how trains to Uxbridge have become slower - especially since the closure of the GWR route to Uxbridge via West Drayton. (I've not forgotten the route via Acton Town but that is even slower than the 'all stations' of today)

Let’s get back to the topic at hand folks, we’re drifting away from Finchley Road’s train describer.

<<Posts moved from 'Finchley Road northbound train indicators' thread - goldenarrow>>
These indicators haven't been working for several weeks again [sic] on the occasions I have travelled.
The tube map app on my phone can tell me which trains are due, so it must be a local problem, wonder why it's taking so long to fix? With a relatively wide range of destinations and stopping patterns it must affect a lot of travellers.

They were working last Tuesday when I was there. I’m due through tomorrow so will check then.
My best mate works there as a csa so I could ask him!

The Met one at least was working on Sunday when I last used the station, so either it isn't all of them (I can't remember if there are multiple) or its an intermittent issue and you're unlucky.

Passed through today and the train describers noted were only displaying generic messages. Being a CBTC boundary, I suspect the feed isn't the most cooperative and as this thread shows, this particular location has form on this very issue.

They were working yesterday morning. How strange. Must be intermittent.
