Metroland and Quainton Sunday 25 August and Bank Holiday Monday 26 August 2019. The train will run from London Marylebone via the Metropolitan Line to Quainton Road. Passengers can then either visit the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre's 50th Anniversary Weekend (More info) or stay on the train for a trip to Watford.
The train will be hauled by 2 class 20 locos and a class 33 loco, which will top and tail the LU 4TC set.
Its a pity that additional Mk1 or even some Mk2 carriages could not be added to this train, as per Steam In The Met 2000.
Different times, sadly. Different organisations and people too, to some extent. LT did have extra coaching stock to hand, which has been sold on in the years since.
Despite it being £84 a pop it will still surely be rammed! Great journey no doubt, wish I could go.
I will not be on the train but hope to see it somewhere - possibly at Rickmansworth on its way north and then later in the day on the Watford branch. I wonder if there will be sufficient time to see it pass through Croxley station on its way to Watford and then to walk to where the line passes over the Grand Union Canal so that the train can be seen there too?
