Regent's Park is promoted as the station to use for ZSL London Zoo. The announcements on Bakerloo Line trains arriving at Regent's Park refer to "local buses for ZSL London Zoo. There are no local buses from Regent's Park to ZSL London Zoo. It is not even the closest station to ZSL London Zoo. Camden Town is a 15-minutes walk from the Zoo whereas Regent's Park is 20 minutes. The only mention of a "local bus" on the Zoo's own website is the 274 from Baker Street or Camden Town. Regent's Park Station is of course opposite Regent's Park but surely Baker Street should be the Bakerloo Line station promoted as the interchange for ZSL London Zoo.

Having walked to the zoo with kids, I’d take Regents Park Bakerloo and a wander through the park over any of the alternative walks.

People have been puzzling about this for decades. It's an eccentricity of the system. The most enjoyable way of getting to the zoo is on the canal waterbus, either from Candem Lock or Little Venice

I think it’s a good thing that Regents Park is advertised as the stop for London Zoo funnelling most of the traffic that way. Baker Street and Camden Town are hardly backwaters.

It's the same when on the EB Central line going to Westfield at Shepherds Bush, when you get to White City it says to alight here for it, when Shepherds Bush is closer.
Same when going to Wimbledon for the tennis, when arriving at Southfields you are advised to alight there instead of Wimbledon Park which is closer.
Same on the Pic during Winter Wonderland, customers advised to exit at Green Park instead of Hyde Park Corner.
Same as a lot of stations where signs send people a really long way to change lines.
It's all for safety, to reduce congestion at key areas/stations.
But unfortunately the travelling public see this as 'misleading' which this thread proves.

Have you ever walked from Wimbledon Park Tube to the All England Club? As a teenager, I did a paper round there, and would always have chosen to walk from Southfields rather than Wimbledon Park.

The bus service runs from Southfields, not Wimbledon Park. In any case, Wimbledon Park may be closer as the crow flies, but not on foot. (Southfields, 0.9 miles, Wimbledon Park 1.2 miles) Westfield stretches almost all the way between White City and Shepherds Bush stations - both are within 200 metres of one entrance or another.

Especially since the extension opened - it's really not far from White City to the John Lewis end. I can easily see why they'd want to take some of the load off Shepherd's Bush, which frequently struggles to cope with the number of passengers it has to handle.

You could get a C2 up Albany St but by the time you've walked to the stop, waited etc why not walk the whole way way.
The service 274 goes closer and seems to have moved onto the double deck rota recently.

There should be signs at the exit at Regents Park directing you to the nearest bus stop.

Or use Great Portland Street, which doesn't have the slow lift from the platforms, and is equidistant to the Euston Rd pedestrian crossing to (Regents) Park Square.

Context is evrrything - if you are already on a Bakerloo Line train approaching Regents Park, as you must be if you are hearing the announcement, the best way to the Zoo is indeed to get off the train there.
