I have been reading another forum, and there has been lots of speculation stating that the class 465/466 are up for the chop, come the next franchise.
One repeating issue on the forum was that the networkers are in particular, not suited to the inner surburban metro duties that they currently operate on in south east london e.g. hayes and dartford stoppers.
My question is, why are they not suited to metro duties? The class 376 that operate alongside them for the same duties are not an issue for this purpose so why are the netwrokers so different? They have a similar acceleration and braking rate to the 376s and a sufficient top speed?
Granted that they could do with a refurb but apart from this, why are they not suitable for the duties on SE metro services?
