There was some sort of delay on the n/b Met this afternoon and when I arrived at Finchley Road the display board showed first train to Watford (11 minutes) and the second to Rayners Lane (in 13). I was only going to Preston Road so despite the temptation to see if the second train really did turn round at Rayners, I took the Watford.
I know the Mets can turn round at Rayners in an emergency but have never seen it actually shown as a destination on the Met.

There was a major point failure this morning at Aldgate so perhaps recovering from that perhaps?

The afternoons woes was also a consequential fall out from a signal failure at 08:45 at Tower Hill that stopped the H&C east of Moorgate and suspended the Circle with trains caught out in between holding up Metropolitan line services to/from the City which intern became Fast or Semi-fast to claw back minutes.
As of 17:45 there is still no service on the Inner Rail Circle.

I had a bit of fun with the DMI’s at Wembley this evening. While awaiting my train home, sometimes they report the train seemed to be getting further away from me and at times it gave up showing times at all.
Quite a gap between westbound trains this evening, I presume a lot of bunching up has occurred, which would explain why Rayners Lane showed up as a destination.

There used to be a rusty rail move late in the evening (416) which used to tip out at Harrow and run empty to Rayners Lane and wrong road back out of the Westbound platforn to Neasden depot.
I wonder if this short trip today was reversed in the Westbound platform or via the siding? I would expect via the platform if not to effect the Piccadilly.

There is a Met Rayners Lane siding reversal in the published timetable - a "rusty rail" move. In this case to keep driver knowledge.

I suddenly feel very old. During my 20 years as a Train Technician at Rayners Lane the Mets were A60's and had two figure running numbers. 4xx numbers were engineering trains..
An occasional delight at Rayners used to be a west to east reverser on the Picc departing the westbound platform at the same time as a Baker Street bound Met.

I see what you mean about ‘an occasional delight’. How cool that would be
