Many different trains at Canonbury station, as filmed between the mid 1980's and 2018.
This was the time when diesel multiple units operated the Crosstown Linkline service Camden Road - Stratford - North Woolwich, Class 313 trains ran between Watford Junction and either Broad Street or Liverpool Street stations (travelling via Primrose Hill station) and both Class 501 and Class 416 2EPB trains ran on the North London Line.
As the vintage film is silent there is background music, plus for the still image photographs a Class 117 diesel train is heard calling at Ealing Broadway - this demonstrates what the diesel trains seen in this film would have sounded like.
In all about 4 minutes 45 seconds of vintage 1980's footage. Apologies at times the footage is a little unsteady, the bright sun gets in the way and near the edits the film is dusty.
This film also includes London Overground Class 378 Capitalstar trains and a few freight / goods trains.
At the very end the 2018 footage shows some accessibility humps (Harington Hump?)
I do not remember exactly when I filmed this but seeing trains in Network SouthEast livery suggests that it was after 1986, although I thought that the Class 501's were withdrawn before then!
The digital footage (still images, SD video in 2011, HD video in 2014 & 2018) is easy to tell the date it was filmed as footage includes the 'created' date.

The last 501s were withdrawn in 1985, replaced by 313s on the Wat-Eus route (and the handful of Broad Street-Watford trains). (the North London Line had already switched to 2EPB sets). Was it ever possible to see all three types (313, 416, 501) together? Diesel operation of the North Woolwich service also ceased in 1985.

I believe the raised sections are called Harrington Humps as the station was the first place where it was deployed back in 2008 I think.

Maybe it was two different days, some months apart? Its not impossible. I just do not remember.
The film's colour balance is the same throughout which suggests that the film came from the same batch and was used at the same time.
I was not a regular passenger on this service but over several years I many trips, mostly in peak hour shoulders. I did not keep written notes of what I filmed, where, when.

Correct, Harrington is on the Cumbrian Coast line; as with everywhere on the Northern Map Merseytart has visited so you don't have to. Read the blog of his visit here.

Hmm, so when did I film this? Maybe it was two different days, some months apart? Its not impossible. Unless someone painted the lampposts while you were there.................(Compare 2:10 and 3:24) Most intriguing is the Class 31-hauled rake of Mark 1 stock, complete with buffet car, at about 0:51. The only regular loco-hauled service I know of from that era was the "European" from Harwich to Manchester (diverted from its original route via Ely and Sheffield from c 1983) which was normally hauled by a Class 86, with a diesel "dragging" it over the then dc-only NLL until the missing link was electrified on AC several years later. But there is no evidence of an electric loco on that train - was there a period before the wires reached Harwich when it was diesel hauled all the way to Wembley? Even so, I'd have thought that a class 47 would be required for such a service.

That gives us a definitive answer... it was filmed on two different days! Most likely a few months apart - this would be entirely feasible as my travels on this line were spread over a decade, or so.
Years after the demise of Network SouthEast their corporate style painting of lamp posts red is still very relevant.
Thank you!
Simon
PS: I wish that I had filmed more... and had been able to capture sound too.

For a relatively low speed short journey any ETH fitted loco would do the job.
