What can they do though, there will be backlash by the public if they sanction him for that. I say he should've at least made a PA announcement explaining himself as im sure some people on the train would happily quieten down and pay their own respects considering their train was passing through the area at the time. Overall, good on him! Even if it might've caused some sort of short delay at the junction at baker Street

I think it was a brilliant tribute and it shows that there is still some good left in this world, despite all the nonsense going on in it. He only stopped the train for half a minute and I'm sure the passengers understood why the train stopped when they saw the Grenfell vigil (unless they were tourists unfamiliar with the incident). For all I know there could have been a PA announcement. Some people are being really nasty about it on Twitter. There's always some 😡🙄

His name is Harvey Mitchell, 58, he's been a driver for 35 years, he lives in the area and he knew Raymond "Moses" Bernard who lived on the top floor.
LUL managing director Mark Wild said “Yesterday evening one of our Tube drivers gave a moving display of respect for people gathered to remember the tragedy’s victims. He has our full support.”

Absolute respect to him for halting the train... Agree 100% Chris W , watching that news report and seeing what that T/op did brought a tear to my eye. Brilliant.

Only thing is if he were to have lost his balance, he could have fallen a fair distance by the looks of it, but fair play to the TO.

Even if it might've caused some sort of short delay at the junction at baker Street You don't know a PA wasn't made... and considering the driver, I expect there would have been. A westbound train also isn't going to cause a delay at Baker Street at 2115 (and even then, pausing for a minute is more than recoverable on the branch). There has been far too much hysteria around this and it's good to see that the company are backing this completely.

I witnessed the tragedy myself: the impact of the disaster has been immense on all of us: it is something that I can never forget.

It’s great to know that in this over officious world of ours, common sense and decency do still apply sometimes. So pleased that TFL have backed him, and publicly too.

The article I was reading described the tube train as "whizzing it's way round London" so I gathered it was an eastbound circle line but it was just a light hearted guess. I also gathered some sort of PA might not have been made as passengers looked quite confused and in later quick interviews with the man, he never mentioned it but obviously there are more prominent matters for him to mention

With respect, half of your posts are speculation - ‘ a light hearted guess’ and ‘ a PA might not have been made’ - so I’d suggest giving it a rest now. You’re better than that.

Didn't mean to sound like that, no criticism here. can't say I did have any facts to support my posts, sorry for the fuss, my bad. Have to say I am part of the headphones brigade myself but do keep well observant. Nevertheless, overall, I stand with that driver and im glad that TFL do too. Although tragic, Grenfell was honestly inspiring to see how everyone came together when things went so badly wrong in my opinion and walking through the area today, it's welcoming to still feel that strong sense of community which is lost in many other areas of London. Great to see that driver didn't let his job get in the way of his morals

It was a very short stop, much like being held at a signal. Not sure anyone would have been bothered TBH.
