I'm not a regular user of the Overground, but made a couple of trips this week and was surprised by the inconsistency of the SDO (selective door opening) announcements.
At some stations the recorded announcement said that the doors in the last coach wouldn't open, and one could leave only from the fourth coach. So far so good. But at other stations, there was an initial announcement saying the rearmost set of doors would not open, and this was followed by the standard announcement as above. In fact the initial announcement turned out to be accurate and the second one wrong.
All very confusing for a non-regular traveller! Does anyone know why this is, and if they are going to fix it?

I don't know why it is but I do know it's very unlikely to change as ever since 5 car 378s came about, it's always been like that. I guess they want to avoid confusion since the announcement plays over all carriages but it's still contradictory and excessive. Overground announcements are very lengthy and sometimes unnecessay, the s stock does a much better, simpler job at informing passengers about doors not opening.

378 announcements are truly terrible. Another annoying glitch I have found is if you are sat in (for example) coach 2, and the speaker directly above you is broken/quiet, you will hear the "this is coach number 3 of 5" from the next coach.

I do not think that is a glitch - its probably loud enough so that people of all ages and health issues can hear it clearly. Your hearing might just be very good .
