Third time lucky! Glad they have ended up with some tube stock, and that this carriage has survived after its spell in use at Morden. Looked nice on the inside. Are the depot upgrades there definitely happening?

There is only one car at North Weald. How many are they getting? Just this one? Other cars from this unit are at Mangapps, I've not yet read anything to say they will be moving.

"Hi, Ancient" Just for reference, there's this joke going around on social media where someone would say "I'm x" or something similar whereupon the recipient would reply "Hi, x. I'm n." Example, "Dad, I'm hungry"; "Hi, Hungry. I'm Dad" etc etc.

Appreciating the fact that running this on the line would require some form of power - could this be provided by some form of modern battery or alternatively could an external power source potentially be provided to "start it up" as a working static exhibit?

Certainly in theory there should be no issues with the train being a powered-up static exhibit provided that: - Power is available
- The right sort of connectors are available to connect to the train (I'd guess these would be shed leads)
- The public are not able to come into contact with any live components (e.g shoe gear)
- The train cannot be made to move (accidentally or otherwise) when it isn't meant to (i.e. a member of the public in the cab couldn't release the breaks and power away)
If there is the desire to do this, then only the first point is likely to cause too much difficulty. A moving, battery powered exhibit would be more complicated and might require modifications of the sort VivaRail have done to convert D stock to D trains. You also have the issue that it is a single car so has a driving position only at one end. Much easier would be to attach a loco (probably also need a barrier wagon for coupling compatibility) at the non-driving end and use that to provide the power.

Also, an air supply - for camshaft mechanism (motors can't work without it!), whistle, doors, operation of brakes, would possibly be required to give authentic sounds. Compressors were located on trailer cars.

The LT Museum depot at Acton has something similar with the 67ts cab. It has been connected to an air and power supply such that you can move the controller and you get 'click click click clunk' from behind you.

Wasn't the original compo of this train 1028-1043? No, that was the trial refurbished train painted in corporate livery and which had a light interior refurbishment. The “heritage train” was 1044+1031 IIRC. It’s a shame the car has left Morden - it was a popular feature during hiking!
