It says Roding Valley is one of the most dangerous on the network. Given the usage of that station this map is highly disproportionate. If you had the same number of claims at say Oxford Circus, it would be green there.

Perhaps Roding Valley's includes staff-fainting if a passenger turns up?

And why has Kensington Olympia been missed off?

Interesting that it is number of entries/exits divided by the number of accidents. No allowance seems to have been made where there are interchanges, which I would have thought that changing trains would increase the number of accidents.

Looking at incidents/1000000 West Ham and Wanstead look a massive outliers. Nothing wrong with trying to understand why. Perhaps number of passengers trying cross-platform interchange at WH. But Wanstead?

But Wanstead? I may pop down there to have a look around. I’ll probably slip on the escalator knowing my luck, then I’m blaming you for making me curious banana99!

But Wanstead? West Ham has plenty of interchange possibilities but none are 'cross platform'. All require that steps be negotiated. Simon

West Ham has very significantly more interchange traffic than entries and exits, so if the stats only count the latter this could be a reason - especially if people are hurrying on the stairs. The high-level platforms are not the widest either which won't help. None of that applies to Wanstead though.
At the other end of the scale, Hammersmith H&C's lack of steps (is it the busiest where all platforms can be reached without stairs, escalators or lifts?) is likely a significant factor in that station's score.

Poor Roding Valley (which I have lived opposite for 20+ years). Slanderous! More information is required to interpret it - or to reduce the 'dangerousness'.
What about the severity of the injuries? Does a paper cut obtained from a tube map, requiring a plaster from the first aid box count as an injury?
What about the demographics of the people who were injured? It may have been a certain type of passenger who was injured (e.g. frail elderly person falling on the stairs). Multiplying up the numbers assumes that there would be more frail elderly people - but maybe there would be more commuters or school children?
Do violent injuries count in this? E.g. stabbings etc. I would be more interested in knowing the crime rates at different stations.

I am pleased to announce that I just successfully navigated the ramp at Roding Valley and survived the experience uninjured, physically anyway. There weren't any trains of course, nor people, nor signs of any staff. So you could argue that I was psychologically injured by the experience! Incidentally, on a more serious note, there is one danger at Roding Valley that I have recently perceived. The Hainault bound platform, towards its rear, appears to be subsiding quite substantially. Either it is sinking, or being pushed up. In the affected areas, a push chair could very easily roll. A few months ago it started getting monitored, with yellow stickers everywhere.

And how are Richmond and Wimbledon counted? (NR stations where all the Underground platforms are on one level) At Heathrow T4 I believe the demarcation is the entrance doors to the ticket hall, with the sloping passage being the airport's responsibility. However, figures from the spreadsheet show that T4 is much quieter than Hammersmith - 2.28 million entries/exits vs 10.57 million. There were also double the number of injuries (2) at Heathrow (entirely speculation, but it wouldn't surprise me if at least 1 of those was luggage trolley related). At both Richmond and Wimbledon, there are stairs down from the ticket hall to the platforms.

Indeed, but in the area outside the barrier line and common with NR. Do the stats (accidents and passengers) both count NR passengers as well as Underground?

At Richmond the stairs are indeed outside the barrier line, but the barrier line is common between LU, LO and London-bound SWR services so it will not be possible to distinguish between an injured passenger's (intended) mode of travel unless the injury occurred on a platform island served by only 1 mode. I guess (although it is just a guess) that the stats relate to the whole station. In any case Hammersmith H&C is the busier station for entries and exits.
At Wimbledon there is only a single paid area and the stairs to platforms are within this area. Wimbledon is one of a few stations not included in the stats: Alperton Arsenal Becontree Bromley-by-Bow Chigwell East Ham Goldhawk Road Kensington Olympia Northwick Park Stanmore Upminster Bridge Upney Upton Park West Acton West Harrow West Ruislip Wimbledon Wood Lane
Given that the minimum number of injuries recorded is 1 and the generally quiet nature of the majority of these stations I suspect that this means no passengers were recorded as injured at these locations.

I remember hanging on for dear life to the station name sign at pre-rebuilding Angel one evening having been a little over-refreshed and not being entirely sure what a straight line was when walking.
