Having a look at the CLD's (car line diagrams) in the other thread, I noticed that CHL was closed on Sundays on the older diagrams. I remember back in the early 1990's Fairlop was also closed. When did they decide to open them 7 days a week??

I think Roding Valley was too. Historically, there were a few stations across the network that closed on Sat / Sun, including ones such as Covent Garden!

I stand corrected if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember 'Temple' being closed on Sundays, and maybe even Saturday pm?

This TfL press release speaks about Temple and Cannon Street. Both had new weekend opening hours from 7 May 2005: Temple: previously open 05:15-00:55 on Saturdays and closed on Sundays, from that date Saturday opening hours were unchanged but from Sunday 8 May 2005 it would also be open 06:45-00:15 on Sundays. Cannon Street: Previously closed all weekend, from 7 May 2005 opened on Saturdays from 07:20 to 19:40. It remained closed on Sundays. MoreToJack notes that it didn't start opening on Sundays until 2014 - I think as part of the Thameslink works?

I seem to remember it being tied in to mainline trains starting to use the station on a Sunday - as you say, related to Thameslink works.

Has anything been said about what will happen with Cannon Street once Thameslink is up and running, as to whether it will retain the Sunday opening? I seem to remember that it may have been publicised as only a temporary, but long term, measure whilst Thameslink construction was ongoing. Can anyone clarify please?

If the mainline station remains open on a Sunday then the tube station will be. If the mainline station ceases opening on a Sunday, then if I were TfL I'd monitor the station usage for a few months before making a decision.

I believe that service changes at Cannon Street are permanent (due to service segregation at London Bridge) - including Sunday services, so I’d expect LUL station to remain open on Sundays.

The National Rail Journey Planner is showing trains running from Cannon Street on Sundays beyond the timetable change in May, although some very funny results are coming up on weekdays. Of course, some Greenwich line services will go from Blackfriars rather than Cannon Street.
