Can anyone give me an understanding as to why there is a platform repeater on platform 7? Its located about half way down the platform so the driver won't be able to see it; The only benefit I can see is that it gives passengers who understand the signaling system indication of whether they should run or not!

Platform repeaters were provided for use by platform staff and of course Guards, indeed the driver cannot see it but other staff can.

Makes sense, but I've never seen staff dispatch a train at EAL

Due to the position of the wiring inside the platform itself it was decided to leave it in place then rip it out and try and bodge the platform back up.

It won’t be working for much longer though, once the area is resignalled.

SMA 11 (Ealing Broadway-Chiswick Park) is due to be commissioned Feb' 20 at the earliest. The only areas left afterwards are due to be the Uxbridge and Wimbledon branches and the top end of the Met. Accordingly, it'll also be the penultimate lever frame on the network to close. 😉
(Assuming everything runs to schedule/plan.)

MoreToJack did you mean Watford? EDIT: Don’t worry it makes perfect sense now!

Nope! Watford is part of SMA13 which is all of the Met north of Moor Park (incl). The Uxbridge branch is SMA14 and should be the last part of the network to get resignalled.

Assuming that the document I've got is correct (possibly not as it is dated 21/01/2016) and I am interpreting it correctly Watford is part of SMA13, which covers Moor Park to Amersham/Chesham/Watford. The other 2 SMAs after SMA11 are SMA 12(Parsons Green - Wimbledon) and SMA14 (West Harrow - Uxbridge)
