At least once a week I notice that the Central Line carriage that I'm in has one or two old line maps in it. The things that initially makes it stand out is the different layout at North Acton with the branches forking rather than the current version which has the West Ruislip branch on a straight line from the central section and id course once you start looking more you notice the lack of TfL Rail at Stratford & Liv St and London Overground at Liv St as well as there not being a blue blob at Greenford.
At first I wondered if I'm just getting on the same couple of trains which have one or two of these still in but this morning my carriage had one line map in which still showed the Olympic Venues.
So how come this has happened on some trains? How can one or two line maps get missed when new ones are being put in?

Exactly this. Generally the line maps are changed over in one go, over a period of a couple of nights. Not every train will make it around every depot in that time, so it's easy for some to get missed. If they get noticed by a different team then they will get swapped out, but generally they're only looking for missing or damaged maps rather than the nuances of what is stated.
The 'record' for old maps was held by a 1992TS for a map including Ongar(!) as recently as a couple of years ago, but I think this has finally been replaced sadly. Similarly there was a 1972TS running around with a map referring to the LT Card a year or so back, and an S8 stock till with the as delivered maps from 2011.
If it's something you feel strongly about you can send the car number to TfL and it will get passed to the depot for changeover, but personally it's quite nice that not everything is entirely perfect. Generally the changes are minor and don't inconvenience anyone.

Theres a Jubilee one from 1995 online! Wonder how that has been dug up from the archives but earliers ones from other lines havent?
When did they style change to the current idiom, about 93ish?

Oh no don't get me wrong it certainly isn't a complaint, I like coming across these I just couldn't work out how only one or two maps could be missed when the rest of the train and that carriage got changed. What's more baffling is that Olympic Venue one because that would have been missed on more than one occasion.

I drew up a series of line diagrams for the Tyne and Wear Metro, including Olympic Venues, in case Gateshead got the '12 Games. I'm not sure what events would have taken place at Boldon Dogs, or Whitley Bay Ice-rink...

Oh wow, thank you so much for this link! Fascinating collection! I love the Jubilee line archive - it's like a history of the Dome fiasco and all the experiments with signage TfL did over the years.

Quite interesting to go through these although I notice it only shows one type of Central Line CLD despite there being two types in Central Line carriages.

On the Track Recording Vehicle middle car we have some old line diagrams displayed, including Ongar, Aldwych, no Heathrow loop, Jubilee terminating at Charing Cross and the East London line
