From memory the Leyland Nasty plant was in Workington. Cumbria, not to be confused with Leyland's in Leyland, Lancashire. The same plant produced the railcar / MU bodies of course as well as at least one rail coach body. The license-built Lodekka clone was the Dennis Loline series: I remember these!

Not really relevant to the quiz, but I remember in the early to mid 1980's, Hastings & Bexhill Bus Co had Blue and white buses, but they were 'independants'! Gillians Coaches of Ashford in Kent also had a similar colour scheme. Both coach companies have now folded, which is a shame.

9 = Dennis Loline of course. As the DMS "Londoner" was essentially a reworked Daimler Fleetline, I would suggest..Daimler Fleetline!
The last PD3 for brownie points was Ramsbottom's TTD 386H, Fleet number 11. The last rear-entrance bus I seem to remember was in 1969? and a PD3?

No. Think about the body more than the chassis. Mr. Bennet's design was mounted on Leylands and Daimlers

Ok - it would seem that question 3 is causing some head scratching. I think maybe a clue is needed here. The revolutionary bus Mr. Bennet designed was actually a body, mounted on a standard Daimler Fleetline or Leyland Atlantean chassis. Think 'up north' and consider that the neighbouring city had some as well with the name changed to represent their city.

And the answer is to the last RE pucrchased by a Muncipal (circa 1975?) and the last rear-entrance bus? I can only suggest V3, March 1985: www.countrybus.org/Ailsa/V3_1.gif

I've been keeping quiet for a few days but I think it's time to put you out of your misery!! ;D Its the Mancunian. Hooray, well done that man! For those interested, Ralph Bennet was originally with Bolton Transport, where he designed a very stylish body for their Atlanteans with raked window pillars. He then moved to Manchester Corporation and designed the superb 'Mancunian'. Salford City Transport had some similar buses, which they called 'Salcunian'. Mr. Bennet moved to London Transport where he was responsible for the body design of the DMS in the early 1970s.

Your next answer is a little tricky. I hadn't included V3 as it isn't a rear entrance bus in the way I meant, so sorry for the confusion. I actually meant half-cab / rear entrance bus!

As this quiz seems to have spluttered to a halt, I have posted the correct answers.
Thank you to those who took part.
