Itso Card Reading not available on Crossrail Ticket Machines.
I note that the new generation of TFL ticket machine cannot read ITSO cards, but the older ones at Tube Stations can. Any reason that this functionality was removed from the new machines??

Originally it was "Integrated Transport Smartcard Organisation" but now it is just ITSO. It's the smart card system used on national rail services, on Southern (and possibly all of the other govia franchuses?) it's branded as "The Key"

domh245 , You're correct, it's used across the GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway) franchises. However certain functions do vary with Southern offering the most variety of tickets, as on Thameslink/Great Northern season tickets only can be loaded onto the card which contrary to the adverts doesn't carry Southern/Gatwick Express/Thameslink/Great Northern branding just a plain looking purple and grey with the symbols of the aforementioned Train Operating Companies (TOC's) on the back. South Western Railways and Southeastern offer an ITSO card too although not universally applicable to all tickets yet.
